A Short Story about

Joachim Kroll

aka Jockel aka The Ruhr Hunter

This is a 'True Crime Art' project about a German Serial Killer who operated in the Ruhr-area for over 20 years. He was arrested in 1976, and voluntarily confessed to 14 murders. Tried and sentenced to 9 life-terms, he died in prison of a heart-attack in 1991.

The project itself focuses on his whereabouts, and information based on newspaper-reports and visits I made to the actual locations of the crimes. The findings thereof have been transformed into installations and singular works. On these pages you can find information of how the project grew into it's complex form, you can read some of the actual newspaper-articles, see pictures of the crime-scenes and of the works related to them. These pages will be updated regularly as more information becomes available in digital form. At the present we are processing all the material towards the release of a CD, both in audio and ROM-format which will contain every scrap of information as well as a digital opera about Jockel, written by Johan Desmet and performed by The Simpletones.
